In non-profit organizations the REAL WORK happens at the committee level. Committees meet informally, on a per needed basis, to deal with very specific problems. It is the best way to understand the inner workings of a non-profit organization and make real change happen. The President appoints a committee chair to preside over these informal meetings. Committee chairs are frequently asked to give oral or written reports and attend Executive Board meetings.
If you have an issue or topic you feel passionate about, join a committee by sending an email to the chair. Remember that only YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Meetings offer independent contractor interpreters a chance to network and learn more about what is happening with our profession and our union. Check out our events calendar for the time and place of a union meeting or gathering near you!
The purpose of the political action program of the Washington Federation of State Employees/AFSCME Council 28 is to promote the legislative goals of our union at the state and national levels. Many decisions that affect our jobs and working conditions are made by the Legislature.
