Without the protection of the Union, Interpreters are at the whim of language agencies and L&I. We have no voice in policy decisions and no way to protect our standards. DSHS/Medical interpreters have shown that by joining together we can win positive changes for interpreters and our patients.

L&I Interpreters cannot afford to be unprotected during this time of economic crisis. Now is the time to build our Union to win professional pay, benefits and respect. Through our Union, we will finally have the right to negotiate improvements in current L&I pay, work rules and working conditions! (Note: L&I Interpreters would have their own union contract, separate from DSHS interpreters. L&I interpreters would NOT get same pay or conditions as DSHS interpreters. You will negotiate your own union contract!)
